A rather novel utility that can be used to browse all the graphics in Ultima 8, including animation sprites for creatures.
It also gives the ability to export individual graphics and sprites to bitmap, or to export collections of graphics in the same manner. A text file containing image data is created with each export.
Hi,
I have downloaded u8 viewer and tried to run the program, but to no avail. It keeps producing the following errors: “u8pal.pal not found. check settings.”, “u8shapes.flx not found. check settings”: U8 is installed on my computer and I ran u8 viewer from the same subdirectory. u8pal and u8shapes are in the same subdirectory as well.
CAn you help me? Do you have any meaningful procedure enabling me to view the graphics?

When your run the exe, it will give a error, ignore it and look where the exe is and your will find a file called Ultima VIII Viewer.ini.
Open the ini file with notepad, and make sure it’s pointed to your ultima 8 STATIC folder. It should look like this:
[ULTIMAVIIIVIEWER]
ULTIMA8DIR=C:\Ultima8\STATIC
OUTPUTDIR=C:\ultima8
