There were a series of four small update patches released for by a consortium of folks through the website (which is currently down).

The female redhead patch is pretty self-explanatory: it adds a female, red-headed Avatar to the character creation menu, and provides the necessary graphics in-game as well, in both and .

The Rankin patch corrects a small bug in Black Gate in which the conversation with Rankin could sometimes loop infinitely. This patch requires that you run Exult 1.2 or later (i.e. the latest stable release).

Finally, the Quests and Interactions patches add a massive amount of world interactivity to the game (more than already exists, which is a fair bit) — you can grind wheat, milk cows, churn butter, shear sheep, and weave cloth. It also provides a few bugfixes to the pocketwatch and to how fishing is handled. The quest patch also adds a side-plot wherein you can return the Rune of Honor to Trinsic. These patches require Exult 1.2 or later.

Please note that you can download the interactions patch bundled with the quest patch, or as a standalone.

Will the Quests & Interactions Patch work with the german language version of Black Gate?

I don’t have that information. My assumption would be that the patch itself should work with the German-language version of the game, but that any dialogue that is patched will appear as English.

In short, I don’t know. It’s not something I have the ability to test, given that I do not own a copy of the German version of U7. If you want to find out, why not set up a second copy of U7 and apply the patch to it, first (in case it screws something up, then you won’t lose your savegames or anything).

If it works, let us know! If it doesn’t, let us know!

At your command. As I am on holiday this week I should find some time for trying out. I let you know what happened!
