Titans of Ether January Update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

Work proceeds apace on Ultima IX: Redemption — the team has been working on NPCs in places like Vesper, on dungeons like Covetous and Hythloth, and on the in-game tutorials (among many other things).

They’re also in need of a 2D artist…so, if drawing is your thing, drop them a line.

Titans of Ether December Update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

The Titans are still looking for interior worldbuilders, by the way.

Outside of that, the team has made some progress on , though it sounds as though things were a bit slower last month than had been hoped for.

Direhaggis asserts that he wrote five additional endings during that time…which brings the total to…uh…quite a few (I’ve lost count). Five separate endings are themselves quite a lot!

Titans of Ether: job postings and the monthly update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

Actually, it sounds like the Titans are doing pretty good; they’re basically just looking for interior worldbuilders at this point.

The updates tell a similar story to past updates, of course: things are being worked on. Still, there’s a few tidbits buried in them that are worth mention:

  • Titan Zini is, evidently, an absolute godsend for the team; what doesn’t he do?
  • Dungeons and cities alike are in the process of being populated. The game world is coming alive, it seems.
  • Direhaggis is working on endings, and has completed three so far. My question: already at three, and more to come? How many will there be, and how easy/difficult will it be to eventually see them all?
  • I wonder what this undisclosed “cold” location could be? The frozen world from Underworld 2, prehaps?

Can’t wait to play this one, good reader? Yeah, me neither.

Which reminds me: general offer to all dev-teams out there at present…if you would like FTP access to the folder where I store your project’s current releases, or if you would like me to set up a folder and FTP access for you so that you can upload project releases whenever those come about, please let me know. I can’t help but think this will help streamline things greatly in the future.

Titans of Ether November Update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

Buried in the middle of an otherwise fairly standard update is this little gem:

Direhaggis: I’m not going to get too ecstatic about it…but…I am about 10 hours away from finishing writing the main plot. I just need to do the last few scenes, the ‘main’ ending, and then that is that. I’m also working with Zini to write tutorials for all of the skills that can be done in game. The alchemy skill is pretty cool, for instance.

The Titans have made impressive progress, and it’s nice to see hints emerging that their ambitious re-invention of is approaching its final stages of development. Direhaggis’ prefacing comments can probably be taken as an indicator that we shouldn’t expect a release announcement anytime too soon, although I wonder if the project’s status tracker has been updated to reflect the above-mentioned progress on the plot?

The Titans are also looking for Interior Worldbuilders and Writers.

Titans of Ether: June 2009 Update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

Direhaggis posted this update last month, but of course I’ve been lax in keeping up with community news during the site rebuild. My apologies to all concerned (and a frothy mug of ale, or rather another one, to Mark Mitchell for pointing this out to me).

At any rate, he lets us know that still has a couple of job openings in the development team:

Interior Worldbuilders: we’re always looking for more people who can do houses or dungeons.

Writers: with the exception of LSD, most of the writers to come on in the last few months have suddenly disappeared. While we could still use 1-2 people to work on Jhelom and help me with Moonglow, I only want serious applicants who can do at least 5 hours of writing a week.

…and fills in some details about the various things that the team members have been working on or have achieved. It sounds like a lot of recent development has centered around Despite, Spektran, and Empath Abbey.

Redemption Update

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

Direhaggis has posted a much-belated New Year’s greeting at the Titans of Ether website, and notes that there are several openings on the team that need filling:

*Interior worldbuilders wanted. Houses, dungeons, toolsheds, castles, and more. All you need is the MW CS, time, and patience. If I can vaguely learn how to put plates on tables, anyone can.

* Writers wanted. We still need 1 more dungeon writer. We also need a new writer for Jhelom. There may be other opportunities as well.

* 3D Modeler wanted. Spyder is one of our best Titans, but we are looking for additional help with models, textures, and the like.

Several updates from individual team members have also been posted, and Direhaggis himself has a new development diary entry for your reading pleasure on the Titans’ forums.

(hat tip)

Redemption is looking for writers

Posted by: wtf_dragon    in Site News

I missed this update, which is already almost two weeks old, to the Redemption website. Direhaggis posted an advertisment, announcing the project’s need for writers:

Do you like Ultima dungeons? Does the thought of creating NPC’s and plots based around or involving an anti-virtue sound interesting? Do you want to check out all of the behind-the-scenes action?

We’re looking for a new writer or two to help sparsely (or maybe not so sparsely) populate several remaining dungeons in U9R. You have 100% free artistic license over your area and will obviously get credit for your work.

So if you find that you are interested in climbing aboard one of the most exciting projects currently under development in the community, Direhaggis has provided his email address and the submission guidelines at the Redemption website. Go and check thou it out!
