  • Announcing: The Ultima Codex

The Ultima Codex, is the next phase in Ultima fandom online. I will no longer be posting news updates to this website. However, this site will remain online for the foreseeable future, both for reasons of posterity and as the home for the various project, utility, and patch downloads that were its beginning and which form its core. In time, these too will be moved over to The Ultima Codex, though it’s likely you’ll find them here for a long time to come as well.

Restored: Pentagram (also for Nokia)

Consider this a two-for-one: Pentagram‘s downloads have been restored, as have the Pentagram downloads for this set of ports of various Ultima projects to Nokia internet tablets. More to come!

Restored: U8 Mapper

I’m actually cheating a bit, because I was out late and am now pressed for time. And technically this is Friday’s update, and it’s now Saturday. At any rate, the big Ultima 8 remake, Pentagram, isn’t quite restored to download status; the U8 Mapper utility is. Pentagram will be available tomorrow.

Apologies in advance if I break the site

WordPress 3.0 just released, and I’ll be upgrading as soon as the auto-update feature asserts itself in the site’s administrative backend. Consider yourself warned, informed, and apologized to, good reader, if you should return here in a few hours and find that the place has gone wonky.

Updated: Ultima IV Reborn

Glanestel Dragon’s just informed me that he’s made yet another update to Devi’s Neverwinter Nights-based remake of Ultima 4. It is, of course, available for download here and at the IGN Neverwinter Vault.

Oh, and did I mention…

…that with the restoration of the download yesterday, all the Serpent Isle downloads are once again up and available. Yeah, I think I forgot to mention that. So, there it is. Now, you’d think I’d be getting on to Pentagram today, but someone just dropped me a note. Check back in a bit for a [...]

Ultima 8: Getting that pesky Tear of the Seas

L@Zar0 was asking about this a while ago, and over in the forum thread for that earlier post, Kobra Kai Dragon provided one possible solution: Pick up the chest, carry it to Daemon’s Crag and throw it onto the molten lava. The chest will sink, but the Tear of the Seas and other stuff will [...]

Restored: Serpent Isle General MIDI Patch

Newton Dragon’s patch to add General MIDI support to Serpent Isle is once again available for download.

Restored: the Complete U7/SI Upgrade

This one is a fan-made combination patch that actually incorporates a couple of different Dragons’ works into one update for The Black Gate and Serpent Isle. Included among the patches is Windows 9x compatibility, for those who are a) still using old Windows operating systems and/or b) haven’t heard of Exult.

Restored: Serpent Isle MPU-401 Patch

In case you happened to want MPU-401 General MIDI support for your Serpent Isle installation, the patch which enables it is once again available. I have to confess, I’m somewhat ashamed; many of the links I’m correcting direct back to the days when I was still running Aiera as a subdomain of another site of [...]

Restored: Serpent Isle in French

And yet another Serpent Isle, Exult-dependent translation project is once again available for download. Do go and check out SI French!

Restored: RDOSUMB

This handly little memory-freeing utility for DOS, which can assist you in getting vanilla installs of Serpent Isle up and running on older systems, is once again available for download.

Restored: Serpent Isle for NWN2

Okay, so there’s no downloads for this indefinitely-paused project. But even so, it’s still a project on the list, and still in need of restoration. Which, coupled with the new project just added (see the previous news entry) brings me back up to speed. Yay!

Announcing: Exult on Dingux

If you asked “what’s Dingux?”, you’re not alone: I wondered as much as well. Apparently it’s a custom Linux kernel for the Dingoo media player. Now you know. Anyhow, this being an Ultima website, this is the part where I tell you that someone has ported Exult (of course!) to Dingux. You can check out [...]

Exult on Dingux

[flickr size="small" float="left"]5355099596[/flickr] Produced by: SiENcE Website: Crank Gaming Releases: * * The Dingoo is a portable media player device, and Dingux is a custom Linux kernel for it that comes bundled with SDL and other media-friendly libraries. Exult has been ported to the system by SiENceE, whom some of you may also know as [...]

Ugh…a day behind

So I missed updating a download yesterday. I’ve since made such a change (Marzo’s Serpent Isle Fixes is now downloadable again), but I’ll have to make two tomorrow in order to get back on track. In my defense, let me just point you toward the harrowing tale of my journey from Edmonton to Pine Bluff, [...]

All Ultima Underworld 2 Downloads Restored

With the restoration of the Official Underworld 2 Patch released by Origin, all downloads pertaining to Ultima Underworld 2 are now officially functional again. Anyhow, I’ll be offline all weekend, and though I will get a download restored come Monday, it probably won’t be until later in the day. My employer is sending me to [...]

Serpent Isle in Spanish…download restored!

I’ve restored (and also updated – yay!) the download for L@Zar0′s now-complete Spanish translation of Serpent Isle and The Silver Seed. One a day, one a day…like my wife’s pre-natal vitamins, right? (Except for the fact that I really don’t blog, at all, on weekends. I probably should have made that clear up front that [...]

Return to the Serpent Isle May Update

Not unlike the Titans of Ether, the team making this continuation of Serpent Isle doesn’t have a lot to report this month. However, they do report that they have developed a working food system, and also a functional resting system…and have also managed to get themselves a working Serpent Gate system (although this has not [...]

Ultima 6 Project 3D models

Archon team member Niko hints, in his latest dev diary, that the 1.0 release of the Ultima 6 Project is nearly upon us, and teases in a video a handful of examples of his excellent 3D modeling work, which the project will of course feature: Niko also discusses his work in this post on his [...]

Titans of Ether April Update

The Titans don’t have much to report on at this time, although we do bid team member Direhaggis congratulations for being granted his Ph.D! Other highlights from the report include Zini’s brief mention of a fully-implemented cooking system, and various team members commenting on work done on interior worldbuilding. Britannia, as the Titans will tell [...]
