Ultima 7 Part Two: Serpent Isle was released in 1993, and again used the isometric engine of Ultima 7 to continue the tale of the Avatar. This time, the game's setting was not in familiar Britannia but the alien (and yet somehow familiar) Serpent Isle.

In Serpent Isle, the Avatar pursues Batlin, the fugitive leader of the Fellowship, to the Serpent Isle, a land populated by people who have fled Lord British's rule to preserve their cowardly and unjust ways, and hate all things Britannian. Surrounded by this hostile culture, the Avatar must determine Batlin's, and the Guardian's, purpose in this strange land and bring the rogue Fellowship monk to justice.

Serpent Isle Fixes

Produced by: Marzo Sette Torres Jr.
Releases:
* SI Fixes (earlier build)
* Si Fixes (latest build - for Exult 1.4 only)

This interesting collection of Serpent Isle modifications enables you to, among other things, actually cure Cantra of her post-resurrection insanity.

The developer notes that these mods are only workable using the Exult engine, and will not function with only a base install of Serpent Isle.

Additionally, he cautions that the mods might not function properly without The Silver Seed expansion installed, although he has attempted to design them so that this shouldn't matter.

* SI-French 1.031 (Win)
* Linux Patch 1.031

An offshoot of the Exult project, SI French is an effort to translate one of the greatest of the Ultima games from English to French. For Windows, the program has been released as a standalone executeable, while for Linux it has been released as a game patch.

Exult 3D
Produced by: Sam Matthews
Website: Announcement (Exult forums)
Releases:
* Exult 3D (Windows)

A newly announced project, Exult 3D currently has no project web-page, and the author admits (in this thread on the Exult forums) that the program is nowhere near ready for release.

That said, the early screenshots posted in that forum thread are amazing, to say the least, and offer a "never-before-seen" perspective on the world of Ultima 7.

As this program uses the original data for Ultima 7, you will need the original games to run it. And yes, like Exult, it will run both The Black Gate and Serpent Isle.

Exult
Produced by: Team Exult
Website: Exult at Sourceforge
Releases:
* Windows Binary
* Mac OSX 10.3
* Sharp Zaurus
* Fedora - Game
* Fedora - Tools
* Fedora - Exult Studio
* Source (RPM)
* Source (.tar.gz)

A staggering and amazing remake, Exult is a cross-platform reworking of the Ultima 7/Serpent Isle engine that allows the game to be run on modern operating systems with expanded memory environments. This is not the same as a mere Voodoo wrapper program, and it works on many systems besides the Windows PC.

Exult 1.2 is the latest "stable" release - Team Exult is making massive engine changes, and subsequent releases are expected to have instabilities as a result. It has Windows, Mac OSX, Sharp Zaurus, and Fedora. Also avaliable is the source, so other systems can compile and build Exult.
